Christmas is here and all the fun, festivities and energy that Christmas brings has arrived. People are buying and giving gifts to each other, lots of alcohol is being bought and consumed, and we are all eating more food that usual. There is a sense of celebration in the air and we all are that little bit happier for it. Christmas is genuinely a really lovely time, or it can be. This is not the case for everyone of course. There are some aspects of Christmas that can make people less happy with their lives and in this article I am going to be focusing on one in particular. Being single.
Being single at Christmas is not like being single at other times of the year. It can be a source of genuine unhappiness. Christmas is a time where couples come out to play in force. There is a lot of cold kisses in the street, holding hands and other very obvious and (if you are single) in your face type activities that can make people hyper aware that they are not one of the people that has a hand to hold this day. This can be quite depressing, it is not good for the soul. Take heart, however! There is a silver lining to all this… Christmas is also a great time to find a friends with benefits.

Fining a friends with benefits can be done at any time of the year of course, but Christmas does bring a certain ease to the process. Firstly, because everyone is having their single status reminded to them on an hourly basis, they are more likely to want to do something about it. Whether it is true or not, they look around and they see other people having fun sexually and that can drive some jealously. Jealousy can be a very positive thing in this context because it gives motivation to act, to make a change, and this can lead to some interesting encounters.
Opportunity
Then there is opportunity. Yes Christmas is usually about family, but new years is about friends and parties. This is where you can go out and meet a large number of attractive members of the opposite sex with who you might form a relationship. More importantly, you are going out with large groups of friends, and forming a friends with benefits relationship with someone who starts as a friend is the easiest way to make it happen.
